LANCE CORPORAL RALPH VALT MEMORIAL PARK
Wayne Township, Passaic County, NJ
This park is near the Preakness Valley Park. Take US 80 west to exit 55B, for Union Boulevard north, Totowa. Within a short drive turn left on Crews Road. At the stop sign, go straight which connect the driver to Totowa Road. You will pass the entrance for the Dey Mansion is on the right. Turn right at the light after passing the Dey Mansion in Preakness Valley Park. Then take the next right for Valley Road. Turn right onto Hamilton Road. At the end of Hamilton Road is a locked gate. Park on the residential street.
This isn't much of a park. Basically it is just a soccer field next to the small Singac brook.
This park does have a natural area along the brook. But the whole area is sandwiched between the Preakness Valley Golf Course on one side and lots of residential houses on the other. Just another forgotten and abuse natural area.
The day we were there, a young kid was learning how to abuse natural areas by riding his motorized dirt bike in circles on the flood plain. All this under the watchful eyes of his father with walking their yellow Labrador dog.
