History:

This is part of the High Tor State Park. In 1943 470 acres (including Little Tor and much of the southern flank of South Mountain) were given to the Interstate Park by writer-philanthropist Archer Huntington.


Trails:

The trail (Long Path) goes straight east from here below Little Tor. At the second three-way intersection, take the path north up to the mountain. There is a gorgeous view here over Haverstraw and West Haverstraw. You can see many of the peaks in Bear Mount/Harriman State parks.
