History:

Deerpark

1690  -- Jacob Cuddeback, Thomas Swartwout, Anthony Swartwout, Bernarndus Swartwout, Peter Gumaer, John Tyse and David Jamison settled in the central part of Peenpack flats.  (Peenpack is Dutch for low, soft land.)

During the French and Indian War three forts were built in the Peenpack neighborhood and three next to the Delaware River.  The ones in the Peenpack neighborhood were located: on the Neversink River not far from Cuddebackville (the fort was burned and the entire garrison massacred); at the house of Peter Gumaer; and at the house of William Westfall.  (Source: Hine 1985: 118-121.)

There is a straight gas line cut going north to south. The pond is off to the west side of it. This is a great place. There are lots of interesting plants and you have lake, pond, dry forest, and field.
