Directions:

US 287 to Tappan Zee Bridge to the exit for the Palisades Parkway north; get off at exit 12 and travel north on Route 45. Entrance is on the right some 800 feet before the intersection of Route 202.

Gurnee Park is located at the northwesterly tip of  South Mountain Park, a ridge that runs eastward for almost two miles to Central Highway.


History:

The park is named after a large tract of land (which included the land of Mount Ivy Park) owned by the Gurnee family.

1896-1930  -- a quarry operates here.

1981  -- land acquired through tax delinquency.
