History of Fredon Township
Sussex County, New Jersey
1737 -- the infamous Walking Purchase defrauded the Lenni-Lenape of the vital Minisink. The Indians were so disturbed that they launched a series of raids throughout Northwest New Jersey, one of which penetrated to Fredon Township at Hunts Pond.
1904 -- Fredon Township was set off from Newton. A part of Green Township also became Fredon Township.
