Lake Musconetcong Park
Route 183, Stanhope, Sussex County, New Jersey
US 80 to exit 27; bear right with the traffic; come to a traffic circle; get out of the circle at the exit for Route 183 (Ledgewood Avenue); cross the Musconetcong River and make an immediate right turn into the parking area (between a Hess gas station and the lake-front park).
The Morris Canal came through the area.
There are two historical plaques on the building by the Musconetcong Dam. One deals with the building of the Musconetcong Dam of 1926. Lake Musconetcong was created in 1846 to act as the Morris Canal's Stanhope Reservoir. The other deals with the Morris Canal itself.
This is a very small park on the western side of the lake's southern border adjacent to Lake Musconetcong Park in Netcong, Morris County on the eastern side of the lake's south end. It is also across from the Furnace Pond Park on Main Street in Sussex County.
