Morris Canal Trail

Allamuchy Township, Warren County, New Jersey

Directions:

Located on Route 604 just south of Waterloo Village and north of Saxton Falls. Parking on the left as you head south on Route 604.

History:

This area was once a busy port, known variously as Stourport, Byram, and Starport. James Frenche ran industrial and warehouse operations from his buildings in the area (now just ruins). There was near here a bridge crossing over the Morris Canal to nearby Sussex Railroad Station in Mount Olive.

Trail:

This is a short trail, maybe a 15 minute walk only. It parallels on the left the bed of the Morris Canal. The trail ends at US Route 80.
