Bye Preserve

Pound Ridge, Westchester County, NY

23 acres

History:

Owned by the Nature Conservancy.

Geology:

This is a small area and a rocky one (with some interesting quartz outcrops). The rock outcrops make it an especially interesting short walk. There are a lot of streams coming out from the bases of the rock outcrops.

Habitats:

Deciduous forests and wetlands. Preserve crisscrossed with old stone walls and remnants of old pastures. Well defined trail in place. There is a white pine grove and a hemlock grove.

Trails:

There is one short trail; the white trail. The walker descends downhill into a small circular area; hence, a circular walk once crossing the stream into the circular area.
