CEDAR SWAMP PRESERVE AT LAKE TONETTA PARK
Southeast, Putnam County, NY


Directions:

US 287 west to US 684 north until its end at Rt. 22 north; continue and turn left onto Rt. 312; go past Farm to Market Road and turn left onto North Brewster Road (Route 58); turn right onto Pumphouse Road and go to its end.

The signs say that this is a town park for Southeast residents and their guests only.

Located just outside the Great Swamp Watershed, this 167 acre park is owned by the Town of Southeast. It is contiguous with a 74-acre lake and a 50 plus-acre wetland, including a 25-acre excellent quality inland Atlantic white cedar swamp that is globally rare.


Facilities:

The park provides swimming, boating, and other recreation activities.


Habitats:

Lake Tonetta supports an occurrence of the inland Atlantic white cedar swamp.
